Now with Playback!

Etherpad the collab together document writer app was the first online app i’ve seen to give us the a playback feature. Using playback you could see over time how the document got constructed, all the edits etc. It was neat, a novelty I guess. Not sure how I’d use it, but cool nevertheless.

Then GoogleWave arrives on the scene and there it is again, playback. You can playback a wave! Hell ya.. oh wait… why do I need that again? Wave appears pretty dependent on all of us getting the essential must have nature behind playback- yet again, I wonder how many times people will playback a wave other than to record for fun video hacking and music video uses.

Soon its only a matter of time before the big kids on the block catch on to the coolness of playback. I’m sure it will arrive in Outlook 2012 as a must have feature.. a big need discovered in the research.

PS: Its bad for me to pick on Microsoft, they actually do DO alot of research. They just make for a fun target at times. And I always feel like they are copying and not innovating enough in the space.
